We are inviting applications for the role of Vice President - Data Insurance Lead
Role Overview
The Offshore Data Engineering Lead is a senior leadership role responsible for building, scaling, and operating an offshore data engineering organization in India, with a strong focus on the Insurance domain. This individual will lead enterprise-scale delivery of modern data platforms and analytics solutions for global insurance clients, while driving operational excellence, talent development, and technology innovation.
The role requires deep expertise in modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, and AWS Redshift, combined with proven experience leading offshore teams of 100+ data engineering professionals in a consulting or global delivery environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Organization Management
Lead and manage an offshore data engineering organization of 100+ employees, including managers, architects, and senior engineers
Build a scalable offshore delivery model aligned with global insurance clients and consulting best practices
Develop and retain leadership talent across data engineering and insurance-focused solution teams
Foster a high-performance culture focused on delivery excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
Delivery & Client Engagement
Own end-to-end delivery of large-scale data engineering and analytics programs for insurance clients (Life, P&C, Health, Reinsurance)
Partner with onshore leadership, sales, and account teams to support solutioning, estimations, and delivery commitments
Act as a senior escalation point for delivery risks, quality issues, and client concerns
Ensure consistent delivery governance, SLAs, and quality standards across all engagements
Data Platform & Technology Leadership
Provide architectural and technical leadership across modern data platforms, including:
Databricks (Lakehouse, Spark, Delta Lake)
Snowflake (cloud data warehousing, data sharing, performance optimization)
AWS Redshift (MPP architecture, integrations, cost optimization)
Guide teams on cloud-native data architectures, data lakes, data warehouses, and lakehouse patterns
Drive standardization of reusable data engineering frameworks, accelerators, and best practices
Stay current with emerging trends in data engineering, cloud platforms, and analytics technologies
Insurance Domain Expertise
Apply strong understanding of insurance data domains, including policy, claims, billing, underwriting, actuarial, and risk data
Lead data modernization initiatives for legacy insurance platforms and core systems
Partner with insurance business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
Ensure data platforms support regulatory, compliance, and reporting requirements specific to the insurance industry
Operational Excellence
Establish and manage delivery and operational metrics, including utilization, productivity, quality, and margin performance
Drive continuous improvement through automation, DataOps, and DevOps practices
Oversee workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, and capacity management for data engineering teams
Ensure adherence to security, data privacy, and regulatory standards
Talent Development & Capability Building
Lead hiring, training, and upskilling initiatives for insurance-focused data engineering talent
Build Centers of Excellence (CoEs) for Databricks, Snowflake, and AWS data services
Mentor senior leaders and high-potential engineers
Promote certification and structured learning paths across cloud and data platforms

Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications
experience in Data Engineering, Data Platforms, or Analytics Engineering
Proven experience leading offshore teams of 100+ professionals in a consulting or global delivery model
Strong Insurance domain experience, supporting data initiatives for Life, P&C, Health, or Reinsurance clients
Deep hands-on and leadership experience with:
Databricks
Snowflake
AWS Redshift
Strong background in cloud-based data architectures, data lakes, data warehouses, and large-scale data pipelines
Experience delivering complex, multi-client data programs for global insurance enterprises
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Fortune 500 or Tier-1 global insurance companies
Exposure to additional cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Strong commercial acumen, including margin management and delivery optimization
Excellent executive communication skills with the ability to engage senior client stakeholders
Experience building offshore delivery "factory" or platform-based delivery models
