MSS specializes in foreign exchange, credits and rates, structured derivatives, equities and debt, equity and equity-linked capital markets. The MSS NFR is an extension of the MSS COO Office, and the Office will partner with business management in the embedding, remediation and improvement of the control environment in respect of key risks to the MSS businesses, including the testing and assurance requirements of the Group Operational Risk Management Framework. The office will deliver on control related priorities in a well-organized, effective, and collaborative manner. The Non-Financial Risk (NFR) is a function that sits within the markets business at the Markets & Securities Services area of HSBC. The NFR helps manage and control non-financial and new risks in the business, including but not limited to operational, conduct and product lifecycle risk. An overarching purpose is to protect HSBC, its People, Clients and Financial Markets by helping safeguarding the delivery of fair outcomes to our customers and avoiding disruption of the orderly and transparent operation of Financial Markets. The Opportunity: The role holder will oversee the Risk, control and conduct framework within the MSS organization, by supporting and promoting the effective execution of global governance, assurance, conduct and control standards, or defining where specific/relevant to the regional business. The role holder will need to work closely with Global and regional MSS teams as well as business management and their support functions to support and promote the effective implementation and design of control standards, governance and procedures, with the aim of sharing and promoting best practice. They will also play a key role in helping support the enhancement/improvement of controls and best practice within the region. What you?ll do: The role holder would support Risk and Control Owners in the First Line of Defence in their management of non-financial risks through the provision of specialist risk and control advice. As a domain specialist within the Non-Financial Risk function he/she is expected to have expertise in particular business lines, products, services, asset classes.
  • Deep Dive Reviews ? support and promote the regional execution of desk/control reviews, thematic reviews and other remediation work as required.
  • Conduct ? assist in driving the conduct agenda across MSS and/or asset class.
  • Governance Forums ? Lead the production of BCCs (Business Control Committees) and participate in Risk and Control related governance forums as required.
  • Lead the continuing development, implementation and improvement of the processes, structures, capabilities, capacity and infrastructure needed to deliver Control Function responsibilities
  • Tracking and resolution of Issues - Support the NFR team and Front Office Management in the maintenance and upload of items into Helios and other relevant systems.
  • Escalation Point - Act as an additional point of escalation for stake holders with respect to internal control issues for the region/site.
  • Establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment across the Markets NFR together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
  • Audit: Act as an additional contact point for Audit
  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels
  • Work closely with NFR product leads and Control Officers and support them in driving the effective governance and management of non-financial risks in the First LOD.
  • Lead the continuing development, implementation and improvement of the processes, structures, capabilities, capacity and infrastructure needed to deliver Control Function responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment across the Markets NFR together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise
  • Work closely with Control Officers and support them in driving the effective governance and management of non-financial risks in the First LOD
  • Lead the core leave monitoring and reporting process.
  • Act in accordance with FLOD controls and to assist in the constant review and analysis of all procedures and policies in support of the above activities.
  • Closely work with senior management and key stakeholders to improvise the processes and ensure the processes are running effectively and efficiently

  • Ability to interact in a professional manner at all levels in the organization including Senior management community ? Global Product Heads, Country Balance Sheet Heads and the MSS Chief Control Officer and associated resources.
What additional skills will be good to have? .
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good understanding of Risk and Control framework and the operational aspects underpinning Control processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage their expectations
  • Motivated and dynamic, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to urgent requests
  • Ability to work closely with team members and collaborate with colleagues globally
  • Confident and comfortable with reporting tools and databases, able to quickly learn new systems
