Job Description


Working closely with Information Architecture, CIB Chief Data Office (CDO) and Technology Asset Owners, the Data Management & Controls function have a number of primary objectives:

  • Define, develop and deliver existing and future Architectural Data Controls within the CIB that support both the firmwide and CIB Data Management and Data Governance policies and standards such as Technical Data Quality, Data Use, PPI, Data Authorities, Data Modelling etc.
  • Partner with Information Architecture to facilitate and support the integration of architectural specifications with the appropriate taxonomies for describing data movement, storage and authority designations (SOR or ADS)
  • Actively engage and partner with the CIB sub-LOB's to help drive and support the adoption and development of the Architectural and Technical Data-centric Controls within their own architectural processes federating up to a central CIB capability.
  • Engage with the technology Asset Owners and Lead IA's across CIB to support the adoption, implementation and review of Architecture Data Controls in accordance to the current prioritized scope.
  • Engage with the CDO Regulatory Reporting team in support of driving accurate data lineage for priority regulatory programs including MIFID/II, CCAR, CBIRC etc.
  • Define, develop, track and report the core metrics and OKR's (Objectives & Key Results) that are used to provide visibility to the various stakeholders (up to and including CTO/CDO level) on current status and progress across the critical data management business imperatives.
  • Contribute to Data Management and Architectural Control technology and tool capability recommendations and improvements.



Provide consultancy and support across all CIB stakeholders in order to deliver against the core objectives. This can include technology Asset Owners, lead Information Architects, CTO/CBT's, Chief Data Office etc. The Data Management Analyst will be an excellent communicator and analytical thinker who is able to engage with key stakeholders across all levels of the organization and be required to evidence the following required levels of experience, knowledge, and skills.
Experience & Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting the definition and implementation of Architectural and Data Controls required to ensure comprehensive data governance in terms of business compliance, auditability, transparency, reportability, agility and risk awareness.
  • Experience of Data Management and Governance Frameworks, Approaches, Tools and Techniques.
  • Some knowledge of various Data Architecture Patterns for Data Integration, Warehousing, Archiving and Transportation Protocols.
  • Excellent understanding of differing authority types such as System of Record (SOR) and Authoritative Data Source (ADS) along with their differentiating characteristics and importance in data processing and lineage.
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical thinking and skills utilizing analytical tooling such as Excel, Power Query, Qlik etc. to analyze a multitude of data sets to form conclusions and possible recommendations based on the results.
  • Be proactive and exhibit excellent engagement skills in order to bridge the gap and support key asset owners by translating control requirements to an agreed set of stakeholder objectives & required activities.
  • Understanding of data lineage and ability to translate business data definitions to the respective Controlled Vocabularies describing the data.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of core IA Data Management capabilities, including Master and Reference Data Management, Lifecycle Management, Data Quality (DQ) Monitoring & Remediation, Metadata Management, Data Classification, Taxonomy, Data Integration and to a lesser extent, Data Modelling.
  • Knowledge of Data Management technologies (e.g. data integration, data visualization, analytics) and event/request-response integration patterns (e.g. File, API, messaging)
  • Knowledge of Financial Services
  • Atlassian Jira
  • Experience of data management tools such as Qlik, Collibra and Excel/PowerQuery
  • Understanding of data models (e.g. conceptual/logical/physical model) and modelling tools (e.g. MagicDraw, ERwin)
