The Veterinary Technician supports veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to animals. This includes assisting during examinations and surgeries, managing patient records, administering medications, and ensuring the overall well-being of hospitalized and outpatient animals.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians during consultations, diagnostic tests, and surgical procedures.
Prepare animals for surgery and monitor them during anesthesia and recovery.
Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments as per veterinary direction.
Collect samples (blood, urine, feces, etc.) and perform routine laboratory tests.
Maintain accurate and updated patient records in the clinic management system.
Provide nursing care for hospitalized animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring vital signs.
Educate pet owners on post-treatment care, preventive healthcare, and nutrition.
Ensure all surgical instruments and clinic equipment are cleaned, sterilized, and well-maintained.
Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety protocols within the clinical area.
Assist in inventory management of medical supplies and consumables.
Support in emergency situations and provide first aid when necessary.
Requirements:
Diploma/Degree in Veterinary Nursing or Animal Health Technology (recognized institution).
Prior experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital preferred.
Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
Knowledge of veterinary medications, treatments, and diagnostic tools.
Compassionate, patient, and detail-oriented.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Basic computer literacy for record management.
