Veterinary Doctor - Poultry Implementation Project

Job Summary:



The Veterinary Doctor will be responsible for providing technical guidance, health management, and implementation support for poultry production systems under the Poultry Implementation Project. The role involves overseeing flock health, biosecurity, vaccination, and disease control programs while ensuring best management practices are implemented at the farm and field levels. The position also requires close coordination with project teams, farmers, and other stakeholders to achieve project objectives in poultry productivity, profitability, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:1. Project Implementation & Technical Support



Support the rollout of the Poultry Implementation Project across designated clusters/farms. Provide veterinary technical inputs during planning and implementation phases. Ensure that project interventions (housing, feeding, vaccination, and management) are scientifically sound and economically viable. Conduct field visits to monitor poultry health and performance.

2. Poultry Health Management



Develop and implement flock health programs including vaccination schedules, deworming, and biosecurity protocols. Diagnose and treat poultry diseases through clinical and laboratory investigations. Conduct necropsies and advice on disease prevention strategies. Maintain proper records of morbidity, mortality, and treatment.

3. Training & Capacity Building



Train farmers, field staff, and farm supervisors on poultry health, nutrition, biosecurity, and management. Develop training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for poultry health and welfare. Promote awareness of emerging poultry diseases and preventive measures.

4. Monitoring & Reporting



Collect, analyze, and interpret health and production data to evaluate flock performance. Prepare regular reports on disease occurrence, vaccination coverage, and mortality trends. Provide technical feedback and recommendations to management and project stakeholders.

5. Coordination & Liaison



Collaborate with nutritionists, farm managers, and technical teams to optimize productivity. Liaise with government veterinary departments, diagnostic labs, and vaccine suppliers. Participate in audits, field assessments, and review meetings related to the project.

6. Research & Development Support (if applicable)



Support trials and demonstrations related to new vaccines, feed formulations, or management practices. Document outcomes and share success stories or technical briefs.

Qualifications:



Education:

B.V.Sc. & A.H. (Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry); M.V.Sc. in Poultry Science / Pathology / Preventive Medicine preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 2-5 years of experience in poultry health management or large-scale poultry farm/project implementation.

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of poultry diseases, vaccination, and biosecurity practices. Experience with broiler/layer management systems. Familiarity with data collection and reporting tools.

Soft Skills:

Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams. Analytical and problem-solving mindset.

Pay: ?50,000.00 - ?60,000.00 per month
