Job Responsibilities

1. Ensure the new operating theater (ABC building) is equipped and stocked.

2. Administer rabies and 7-in-1 vaccinations as needed.

3. No pet owner shall be charged. Voluntary donations may be accepted strictly for medicine expenses and must be receipted.

4. Provide vaccinations to pets, free-ranging, and semi-owned dogs with the support of handlers.

5. Diagnose and treat animals requiring medical care.

6. Perform Animal Birth Control (ABC) surgeries on dogs using latest ABC techniques, in strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023, and any other applicable regulations. In case of emergencies, the veterinarian may also be required to perform major surgeries, such as tumor removals, under proper sterile conditions and with appropriate pre- and post-operative care.

7. Monitor and advise on facility maintenance and repairs.

8. Assist in equine camps and awareness programs in and around Kodaikanal.

9. Maintain case reports and treatment records.

10. Conduct educational awareness with schools, colleges, and local communities.

11. Perform spaying/neutering procedures on cats.

12. Attend to emergencies and house calls as needed, when an animal requires urgent care or on-site treatment.

13. Attend to emergency cases even outside regular working hours. Flexibility and responsiveness are essential in ensuring timely help for distressed animals.

14. Participate in wildlife rescue and treatment under forest department supervision.

15. Report directly to the Managing Trustee.

16. Ensure all surgeries and vaccinations are logged in the WVS Data Collection App and surgery case sheet.

17. Submit a monthly report on medical activities, OP cases, surgeries, and other assigned duties. In the absence of a coordinator, the veterinarian will be responsible for handling cash in hand, maintaining proper accounts and receipts, and submitting a monthly expenditure report to the trustees. Update regularly on WhatsApp group only day to day activities. ( or weekly).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹420,000.00 - ₹480,000.00 per year
