Profile - Vertical Lathe Machine Operator

Qualification - Diploma - mech. / ITI

Experience - Min. 3+ yrs. as a Vertical Lathe Machine Operator in manufacturing industry

Working Hour - 12

Location - Jaipur

1. Machine Operation & Setup

Set up and operate

Vertical Lathe Machines (VTL/VTL CNC)according to job instructions and engineering drawings. Load and unload castings using cranes or lifting devices safely. Adjust machine settings (speed, feed, depth of cut) for different materials and sizes. Perform roughing and finishing operations on large casted components.

2. Machining & Quality Control

Ensure machined components meet required

tolerances, dimensions, and surface finishas per drawing. Measure components using

vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges*, and other precision instruments.
Identify and correct machining errors, tool wear, and dimensional deviations. Work closely with the

quality control departmentfor part inspection and approval.

3. Tool & Equipment Maintenance

Maintain cutting tools, inserts, and fixtures in good working condition. Perform

basic maintenanceof the machine (lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs). Report any mechanical or operational issues to the maintenance team.

4. Process & Production Support

Read and interpret

technical drawings and process sheetsaccurately. Record production data such as machining time, tool changes, and job completion. Support process improvement and productivity initiatives in the foundry machining section.

5. Safety & Housekeeping

Follow all

foundry safety protocols*, including use of PPE (gloves, safety shoes, helmet, goggles, etc.).
Handle molten or cast parts safely to prevent accidents. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.

6. Coordination

Coordinate with

production supervisors, tool room, and maintenance teamsto ensure smooth operation. Communicate effectively about machining challenges, delays, or tool/material shortages.

Preferred Skills & Knowledge:

Knowledge of

CNC programming (Fanuc / Siemens)is an added advantage. Understanding of

foundry materials(cast iron, SG iron, steel castings, etc.). Ability to read

engineering drawings and GD&T symbols*.
Good understanding of

cutting speeds, feeds, and machining parametersfor heavy castings. Experience in handling

large componentsusing EOT cranes or hoists.
