Vendor Development & Purchase Engineer - Outsourcing Materials

Key Responsibilities:
1. Vendor Development:
Identify, evaluate, and develop new vendors for outsourcing fabricated and machined components, electrical panels, sheet metal parts, engine accessories, etc.
Conduct vendor audits and assessments to ensure quality, capacity, and reliability.
Develop and maintain a robust vendor database with alternative sources.
Negotiate and finalize terms with vendors including price, credit, lead time, and logistics.
2. Strategic Sourcing:
Source components for Genset assemblies: base frames, canopies, control panels, engine and alternator mounting kits, etc.
Ensure timely procurement of outsourcing items as per production schedule.
Evaluate cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.
3. Procurement Management:
Issue RFQs (Request for Quotation), compare offers, and finalize POs.
Ensure adherence to cost, quality, and delivery standards.
Track and monitor outsourcing schedules, and resolve delivery issues proactively.
4. Cost Control & Negotiation:
Achieve cost targets through effective negotiation and vendor management.
Monitor market trends and raw material price fluctuations (steel, copper, etc.).
Participate in annual rate contracts and long-term sourcing strategies.
5. Coordination & Communication:
Coordinate with design, planning, and production teams for technical clarification.
Handle documentation including POs, delivery notes, inspection reports, and vendor performance metrics.
Ensure compliance with ISO/quality standards and procurement SOPs.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of genset components and fabrication processes
Understanding of outsourcing, subcontracting, and supply chain practices
Technical drawing interpretation and basic engineering knowledge
Good negotiation and vendor evaluation skills
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / Tally ERP preferred)
Excellent communication and follow-up skills
Qualifications:
B.E. / Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
PG in Supply Chain / Materials Management (optional but preferred
Job Type: Permanent
Pay: ?25,000.00 - ?30,000.00 per month
