Your role

we are looking for a VAT / Indirect Tax Specialist to join our UBS Asset Management Tax Team as an Associate Director, the job holder is expected to:

lead the global VAT/Indirect for all business areas in Asset Management across all regions


manage the VAT/Indirect tax risk both financially and reputationally across all regions


implement regular reviews of the VAT risk and reporting this to the Global Head of Asset Management Tax. Implement the necessary procedures and controls to mitigate the risk


communicate VAT/Indirect tax priorities based on changing reglatory environment, to senior management


manage and direct the appointment of external advisors if required in relation to VAT / indirect tax topics


monitor and lead any VAT/Indirect tax developments that will impact Asset Management

Your team

The role will be in the Asset Management business division (within the Asset Management COO Area) and will report to the EMEA Head of AM Traditional Tax Team, who is located in London.


As well as working closely with the Asset Management business, the job holder will work with the global Asset Management Tax team as well as with the UBS Group Tax colleagues.

Your expertise

the job holder should have very strong communication and leadership skills, with a confident appearance and a willingness to work in a collaborative and international team environment. Specific knowledge and experience required includes:




qualified Tax professional (Chartered Accountant, Chartered Tax Advisor, Tax Lawyer or equivalent) or Legal / Regulatory background with tax experience


experience in VAT and indirect tax topics


6+ years Financial Services tax experience gained in a 'Big Four' Accounting or Law firm; or in house tax experience gained in a Financial Services firm


knowledge and experience in transfer pricing


high standing in the tax profession and ability to represent fully and professionally the interests of UBS in industry and government bodies


fluency in English. German language would be a benefit.
