Key Responsibilities
Oversee operation & maintenance of utility systems: e.g., 11 kV/415 V distribution, diesel generator sets, compressors, chillers, cooling towers, DM/RO water supply, effluent treatment plant (ETP), sewage treatment plant (STP), HVAC systems, steam/thermal systems. Foundit+2Hire for Belonging+2
Develop and manage preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance schedules for all utility equipment to minimise downtime and ensure reliability. Adzuna+1
Monitor utility consumption (electricity, water, compressed air, steam, etc.), analyse variances, identify opportunities for energy & water savings, implement improvement initiatives. Hire for Belonging+1
Prepare, manage and control the utilities budget, including forecasting and cost optimisation.
Coordinate with external utility service providers (electricity board, water board, fuel suppliers) and statutory authorities for utility supply, compliance and emergency response. TimesJobs+1
Lead utility-related infrastructure projects (upgrades, replacements, new installations) including planning, design, vendor/co-ordination, commissioning.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements for utilities and associated equipment. Drive EHS best practices. Apna+1
Maintain spare parts inventory and critical equipment lifecycle planning for utilities.
Lead and mentor the utility team (technicians, supervisors), set KPI's, conduct performance evaluations and training/workshops.
Work closely with production, maintenance, quality and engineering departments to align utility services to production needs, reduce losses and ensure uptime.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical) or equivalent.
Minimum of ~8-12 years' experience in utilities management (industrial/manufacturing plant) with 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
Strong technical knowledge of utility systems: electrical distribution, compressors, chillers, water/steam systems, ETP/STP etc.
Proven experience in preventive/predictive maintenance, utility consumption optimisation, budgeting, vendor management.
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Familiarity with industrial safety standards, environmental regulations & utility related statutory compliance in India.
Strong analytical ability to monitor utility data, identify savings opportunities and implement initiatives.
Knowledge of manufacturing/automotive plant operations is a plus.
