Position: Utility Manager

Experience: 10 - 15 Years Project

Location: Plant / Project Site

Role Summary

The Utility Manager will play a

key role in the Greenfield project phase

, responsible for

planning, installation, commissioning, and stabilisation of all plant utilities

, followed by smooth operation and maintenance post-commissioning. The role requires strong technical expertise, project coordination skills, and experience in setting up utility systems from scratch to support manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead

utility planning, layout finalisation, capacity calculations and system selection

during the Greenfield project stage. Coordinate

installation, erection, testing and commissioning

of all utility systems in line with project timelines. Work closely with

project, engineering, OEMs, consultants and contractors

during execution. Develop

SOPs, maintenance plans and operational guidelines

before plant start-up. Support

trial runs, ramp-up and stabilisation

of utilities during initial production phase.
Utility Operations & Maintenance

Oversee day-to-day operation and maintenance of utilities such as: Boilers / Thermic Fluid Heaters Chillers / Cooling Towers Air Compressors & Compressed Air Systems Power distribution systems (HT/LT panels, DG sets) Water systems (RO, Softener, ETP / STP, cooling water) Ensure uninterrupted and reliable utility supply to production.
Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

Implement preventive maintenance systems from project stage onwards. Handle breakdowns efficiently to minimise impact on production. Maintain equipment history, root cause analysis and improvement actions.
Energy Management & Cost Optimisation

Establish baseline energy consumption for the new plant. Implement energy-efficient systems and optimisation initiatives. Monitor and report utility performance and costs.
Compliance, Safety & Statutory Requirements

Ensure all statutory approvals, inspections and licenses for utilities are obtained during the project stage. Ensure compliance with Boiler, Electrical, Pollution Control Board, Fire & Safety norms. Promote safe operating practices and EHS compliance from day one.
Team & Contractor Management

Recruit, train and develop utility operators and technicians. Manage contractors, AMCs and service vendors during project and operations phases.
Qualifications & Experience

Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering. 10-15 years of experience in utility management,

including Greenfield project exposure

. Proven experience in

utility system commissioning and plant start-up

.
