Position Summary
The University Librarian is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the overall library system, including academic resources, digital services, and information management. The role ensures effective support for teaching, learning, and research in alignment with UGC standards.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the development, organization, and management of the University Library's resources, including digital and print collections.
Ensure compliance with
UGC, NAAC, and statutory requirements
related to library operations and academic support services.
Lead and implement library automation systems, digital repositories, e-resources, and subscription databases (e.g., INFLIBNET, e-ShodhSindhu).
Facilitate research support services such as plagiarism checks, citation management, research visibility, and scholarly communication assistance.
Develop library policies, strategic plans, and annual budgets; ensure efficient procurement and vendor management.
Conduct orientation, workshops, and training sessions for faculty, students, and researchers on library tools and academic resources.
Supervise library staff, allocate duties, monitor performance, and ensure smooth daily operations.
Maintain an organized, user-friendly, and technology-enabled learning environment.
Support accreditation activities (NAAC/NBA/PCI/COA), documentation, and academic audits.
Promote best practices in information literacy, digital learning, and scholarly resource management.
Qualifications (As per UGC Norms)
Ph.D. in Library Science / Information Science / Documentation Science
or an equivalent discipline.
Master's Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or Documentation with
minimum 55% marks
.
Evidence of published work and research contribution.
Minimum 1-
5 years of experience
as a Librarian/Deputy Librarian/Academic Library Professional in a university or research institution.
Proficiency in Library Automation (KOHA, ILMS), digital libraries, and ICT tools.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of UGC guidelines, academic processes, and higher education frameworks.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage digital resources, databases, and research support tools.
Strong service orientation and stakeholder management.

Pay: ?11,559.31 - ?50,000.00 per month
