Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Upholsterer to join our team to repair, create, and restore furniture using various upholstery techniques. The ideal candidate will have experience working with different fabrics and materials, strong attention to detail, and the ability to interpret design specifications or customer requests.

Key Responsibilities:

Make furniture frames and padding

Strip and reupholster furniture including sofas, chairs, ottomans etc.

Measure and cut fabric according to design templates

Attach fabric, padding, springs, and webbing using hand tools, adhesives, and sewing machines

Select and inspect upholstery materials for quality and durability

Work closely with clients or designers to meet specifications and deadlines

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the upholstery workspace

Ensure safety procedures are followed in all work areas

Qualifications:

Proven experience as an upholsterer or relevant certification

Proficient with sewing machines, hand tools, and staple guns

Good understanding of furniture construction and materials

Ability to lift heavy items and work in a physically demanding environment

Strong eye for detail and color coordination

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Preferred Skills:

Custom design or automotive upholstery experience

Pattern making and tufting knowledge

Experience with leather, vinyl, and specialty fabrics

Work Environment:

This position typically operates in a workshop environment and may require occasional travel for on-site repairs or installations.
