The University Photographer is primarily responsible for capturing high-quality photographs that authentically represent the university's academic, research, and campus life. In addition to photography, the role supports video content creation, live streaming of major events, student storytelling initiatives, and coordination with faculty and laboratories to strengthen the university's visual presence.
Key Responsibilities:
Capture professional photography of academic events, conferences, convocation, and institutional activities
Document student life, campus culture, sports, and extracurricular activities
Photograph faculty, leadership, visiting dignitaries, and staff
Create visual documentation of campus infrastructure, laboratories, libraries, and research facilities
Maintain high technical and aesthetic standards aligned with university brand guidelines
Create short and medium-format video content across campus (events, student life, faculty and research visuals)
Support setup and basic operation of YouTube Live / live streaming for major events and conferences in coordination with IT/AV teams
Coordinate with faculty members, research centers, and laboratories to capture authentic visuals of research activities and facilities
Manage and curate student storytelling initiatives highlighting university life and student experiences
Support creation of new creative content verticals such as student podcasts, faculty research features, and innovation stories
Guide and mentor students in photography and visual storytelling as and when required
Edit, organize, and maintain a structured archive of approved photographs and videos
Coordinate photography and video schedules across departments and support branding, admissions, and internal communication needs
Skills & Experience
Degree/Diploma in Photography, Media, Visual Arts, or related field
2-5 years of professional photography experience (institutional/event experience preferred)
Strong photography skills with basic videography and live-streaming knowledge
Proficiency in photo editing tools (e.g., Lightroom, Photoshop); basic video editing skills desirable
* Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and administrative teams
