The English Typist is responsible for accurate and timely typing, data entry, and document preparation. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent grammar skills, and the ability to type at a speed of
50 words per minute (WPM)
with high accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Typing & Documentation
Type letters, reports, forms, and official documents with speed and accuracy.
Transcribe handwritten notes, audio recordings, and scanned documents into digital format.
Format documents as per company guidelines (fonts, spacing, alignment, templates).
2. Data Entry & Record Maintenance
Enter data into spreadsheets, databases, and internal systems.
Maintain and update digital and physical records.
Ensure documents are saved, labelled, and organized correctly for easy retrieval.
3. Proofreading & Quality Check
Check typed documents for grammar, spelling, and formatting errors.
Ensure high accuracy and consistency across all typed materials.
Review content to ensure clarity and correctness.
4. Office & Administrative Support
Assist in preparing meeting minutes, memos, and basic correspondence.
Coordinate with other departments for document submission and approvals.
Handle photocopying, scanning, printing, and filing of documents.
5. Confidentiality & Compliance
Handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Follow company policies, documentation guidelines, and data protection standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; additional typing certifications preferred.
English typing speed of
50 words per minute (WPM)
with 90-95% accuracy.
Strong command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and basic computer applications.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
