The Two-Wheeler Showroom Cashier is responsible for processing all financial transactions related to vehicle sales, service, and parts in the dealership. This role requires accuracy in handling money and paperwork, excellent customer service skills, and a professional demeanor as they are often the last point of contact for the customer.
Core Responsibilities & Duties
Financial Transactions & Accounting
Process Payments:
Accurately process all forms of payment, including cash, credit/debit cards, checks, and financing documents for new and used two-wheeler sales, service repairs, parts, and accessories.
Cash Management:
Count and reconcile the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and balancing the cash against the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
Documentation:
Issue official receipts, invoices, and service work orders to customers. Maintain meticulous records of all daily transactions and prepare daily bank deposits.
Refunds and Adjustments:
Handle customer refunds, exchanges, and credit memorandums according to company policy.
Discrepancy Reporting:
Promptly report any cash discrepancies, fraudulent transactions, or significant issues to the Office Manager or Controller.
Customer Service & Communication
First Point of Contact:
Greet all customers entering the showroom or service area with a friendly and professional attitude.
Inquiries:
Answer basic customer questions regarding billing, service charges, warranty work, and vehicle payment statuses, directing more complex inquiries to the appropriate department (Sales, Service, or Parts).
Telephone Duties:
Answer and direct incoming telephone calls to the correct dealership department efficiently, often acting as a backup switchboard operator.
Complaint Resolution:
Handle customer complaints related to billing or payment with patience and poise, escalating to a manager when necessary.
Administrative & Clerical Support
Filing & Data Entry:
Perform general clerical duties such as filing repair orders, sales invoices, and other financial documents. Accurately enter and update customer and vehicle information in the dealer management system.
Interdepartmental Support:
Collaborate with the Sales and Service departments to ensure all charges on customer invoices are correct, including labor rates, parts costs, and applied discounts.
Work Area Maintenance:
Maintain a clean, organized, and secure cash register and work area.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Experience:
Previous experience as a Cashier, Teller, or in a customer-facing role, preferably within an automotive or retail setting.
Mathematical Proficiency:
Strong basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) for quick and accurate calculation of sales, discounts, and change.
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, cash registers, and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, data entry).
