A Turner is responsible for operating lathes and other machinery to create precision parts from various materials, ensuring high-quality production and adherence to specifications.

Core Responsibilities

Machine Operation

: Turners operate lathes and other machinery to shape materials like metal, wood, or plastic according to specific designs and specifications. This includes setting up the machine, selecting appropriate tools, and adjusting settings for optimal performance.

Blueprint Interpretation

: They read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand production requirements, ensuring that the components produced meet the necessary specifications.

Quality Control

: Turners inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. This involves using measuring instruments to check dimensions and tolerances.

Maintenance

: Performing routine maintenance on machines is crucial to ensure optimal performance and safety. Turners are responsible for keeping their work area clean and may also perform minor repairs on the machinery.
