We are seeking a detail-oriented Truss Designer/Estimator to join our team. This role combines technical design expertise with cost estimation to deliver accurate, efficient truss solutions for residential and commercial construction projects. This is an in-house/office position requiring the candidate to work on-site.
Location: Pune, Maharashtra Work Arrangement: In-office (On-site)
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
Design roof and floor truss systems using industry-standard software (MiTek, Alpine, Simpson or similar platforms)
Analyze architectural plans and specifications to determine truss requirements
Ensure all designs comply with applicable building codes, engineering standards, and local regulations
Perform structural calculations and load analysis for truss systems
Create detailed estimates, shop drawings and truss layouts
Estimation & Bidding
Prepare accurate material takeoffs and cost estimates for truss projects
Analyze project specifications and blueprints to determine scope and requirements
Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to obtain competitive pricing
Generate detailed proposals and bid packages for clients
Review and validate estimates for accuracy and completeness
Project Coordination
Collaborate with sales, production, and installation teams to ensure project success
Address design modifications and change orders efficiently
Provide technical support for the sales team
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (required)
Experience
2+ years of experience in truss design or structural engineering
Proficiency with structural design software
Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and building codes
Knowledge of wood truss design standards and industry practices
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
Professional Competencies
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in English
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Team-oriented with ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in multi-family and commercial construction
Knowledge of IRC, IBC, and ANSI/TPI 1 standards
Familiarity with lumber grading and material properties
Previous estimating or project management experience
