DB Lead - PostgreSQL for Mid-Office Application -

Role & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:




. Leads PostgreSQL development, providing technical guidance and best practices.




. Designs and implements efficient data models for the Mid-Office application, ensuring scalability and performance.




. Develops and implements strategies for performance tuning, including query optimization and index management.




. Creates and maintains data retention and purging policies, balancing regulatory requirements with system performance.




. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to align database design with application requirements and business needs.




. Implements and manages database security measures, ensuring data integrity and compliance with industry standards.




. Develops and maintains documentation for database structures, procedures, and best practices.




. Monitors database performance and proactively addresses potential issues.




. Participates in code reviews and provides constructive feedback to team members.




. Stays current with the latest PostgreSQL features and industry trends, recommending improvements to our database infrastructure.




What We're Looking For:


o 7+ years of experience in database administration and development, with at least 3 years focused on PostgreSQL.




o Proven experience developing, leading and mentoring database development.




o Strong understanding of database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.




o Experience with data modeling and database design in complex, high-transaction environments.




o Familiarity with travel industry data structures and processes is a plus.




o Proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and experience with database migration tools.




o Knowledge of data retention strategies and compliance requirements in the travel industry.




o Experience with database monitoring tools and performance analysis.




o Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.




o Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex database concepts to non-technical stakeholders.




o Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.




o Experience with cloud-based database services, particularly AWS RDS for PostgreSQL, is a plus.
