Job Description

Role Summary



The Transport Manager is responsible for the

safe, efficient, and timely

transportation of students and staff. This includes managing the school's fleet, supervising drivers and attendants, ensuring compliance with safety norms, optimizing routes, coordinating with parents, and handling daily transport operations.

Key Responsibilities


1. Transport Operations Management



Plan and schedule daily student pick-up and drop-off routes. Ensure all vehicles run on time during morning arrival and afternoon dispersal. Make real-time adjustments during delays, breakdowns, or emergencies. Maintain a roster for drivers and attendants.

2. Student Safety & Compliance



Ensure adherence to school transport safety norms (RTO guidelines, CBSE norms, GPS, CCTV, speed governors, fire extinguisher, first-aid box, etc.). Conduct safety audits of buses and transport staff. Ensure ID cards, attendance systems, and boarding/deboarding protocols are followed. Conduct emergency evacuation drills with drivers, attendants, and students.

3. Fleet Maintenance



Ensure timely servicing, maintenance, and repair of school buses. Maintain vehicle logs, fitness certificates, pollution checks, insurance, permits, and documentation. Track mileage, fuel usage, and breakdown history. Coordinate with the workshop/garage for maintenance.

4. Staff Supervision



Recruit, train, and monitor drivers, cleaners, and bus attendants. Conduct regular briefings on safety, discipline, behaviour, and emergency preparedness. Monitor driver performance, punctuality, and compliance with school rules. Maintain staff attendance and duty allocation.

5. Parent & School Coordination



Act as the primary point of contact for parents for transport-related queries. Share route updates, delays, or emergency information with parents and staff. Resolve transport-related complaints professionally and promptly. Coordinate with teachers and admin staff during events, field trips, and special transportation needs.

6. Documentation & Reporting



Maintain MIS reports: routes, fuel consumption, costs, maintenance, driver details, etc. Prepare monthly reports on operations, budget, and performance. Ensure strict documentation for all regulatory requirements.

7. Budget & Vendor Management



Manage transport budget: fuel, repairs, manpower, and compliance costs. Negotiate with external vendors--mechanics, fuel suppliers, GPS providers, contractors. Optimize routes to reduce fuel consumption and operational cost.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
