Job Responsibilities & Key Activities

Planning & Surveying

: Identify safe and efficient cable routes and perform necessary surveys.

Route Preparation

: Prepare trenches or ducts, ensuring they are stable, clean, and properly compacted, paying close attention to bending radius to avoid stress on the cable.

Cable Pulling

: Use specialized equipment like winches with dynamometers to monitor and control pulling force, preventing damage to the cable's internal components.

Friction Reduction

: Apply high-grade pulling lubricants to reduce friction during the pull, especially on long or curved sections.

Cable Handling & Protection

: Ensure the cable's metallic sheaths and outer jackets remain intact, as any damage can lead to failure.

Safety

: Adhere to strict safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as insulated gloves and boots, for protection against electrical shock and falling objects.

Installation & Support

: Position cables as per design drawings, utilizing cable rollers and support systems to manage friction and guide the cable around corners.

Testing & Commissioning

: Conduct rigorous testing and commissioning after installation to verify the cable's proper functioning and ensure long-term reliability.
Technical Skills & Considerations

Engineering Precision
