Job Description

• Develop process and system for enhanced coordination amongst utilities and market participants to ensure better planning of transmission system
• Support in developing technical inputs to CEA, CERC, POSOCO, state utilities, SLDCs, etc., in adoption of advanced power system planning approaches and tools to enhance efficiency, resilience of power system, and to improve the quality of electricity supply.
• Support in designing and implementation of interventions for loss reduction, network optimization, project management, and smart grids for distribution and sub transmission (up to 66 kV).
• Raise the stature of O&M function and ensure development, implementation, and monitoring of O&M plans.
• Identify and implement best practices in power distribution design, planning, operations, and maintenance to reduce losses and improve quality of supply.
• Identify emerging technologies in power T&D and review their relevance, potential for pilot projects and commercial deployment.
• Make a case to utilities and regulators for pilot projects and or commercial deployment based on evidence and technical review.
• Support in developing roadmaps to strengthen capacity of state transmission utilities (STU)
• Support utilities to design specifications for adoption and testing of technologies/products in power transmission and distribution
• Support in preparing bidding frameworks, tender documents, and support bidding processes for utilities to deliver pilot projects/commercial deployment.
• Support in developing protocols, standards, MIS, etc., to improve regular maintenance to enhance quality of supply and reduce cost of supply.
• Prepare and author reports, research papers, articles related to power transmission and distribution.
• Conduct trainings and capacity development workshops for distribution utilities, regulators, etc.

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power System Planning, Transmission, Economics, or related field with 3 years of experience; or bachelor’s degree (Electrical Engineering) with 5 years of experience.
• PhD candidates or candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis and at least 1 year experience can also apply.
• Power system planning tools such as SDDP/PLEXOS knowledge would be added advantage.
• Understanding of developing/deploying/testing innovative technologies in distribution companies is highly desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, technical staff and clients.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse team members.
• Motivated and able to work under challenging and fast paced environment.
• Ability to effectively prioritize workload, self-manage and complete tasks to best meet project needs.
