The Head of Shipping & Logistics Training will be responsible for designing, managing, and delivering high-quality academic and practical training programs in shipping, freight forwarding, logistics, warehousing, and supply chain management. The role requires strong industry knowledge combined with academic leadership to ensure students gain both theoretical understanding and real-world skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Delivery
Design and update course curriculum in line with industry standards (IMO, IATA, FIATA, INCOTERMS, customs regulations, etc.).
Ensure training modules cover shipping documentation, cargo handling, warehousing, freight forwarding, transport management, and international trade compliance.
Deliver lectures, workshops, and practical training sessions.
Academic & Industry Alignment
Build strong linkages with logistics companies, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and trade associations.
Incorporate case studies, field visits, and internships into the training program.
Stay updated on latest trends and regulatory changes in global trade and logistics.
Faculty & Student Management
Lead and mentor trainers, instructors, and guest faculty.
Guide students in projects, certifications, and career counseling.
Oversee assessments, examinations, and certification standards.
Quality & Accreditation
Ensure programs meet accreditation requirements and international benchmarks.
Develop partnerships with professional bodies for certifications (IATA, FIATA, CILT, etc.).
Training Innovation
Integrate e-learning platforms, simulations, and practical labs.
Innovate with blended learning methods for maximum effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's / Master's in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or Maritime Studies.
Min 6 years' experience in shipping/logistics industry; prior teaching/training experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of shipping, freight forwarding, customs, warehousing, and logistics operations.
Familiarity with academic administration, curriculum design, and accreditation standards.
Excellent presentation and mentoring skills.
