Welding- Join Metal pieces using various welding methods(e.g. arc welding, MIG welding) according to blueprints and instructions.
Cutting and preparing- Cutting metal to the required shapes and size and preparing surface for welding (e.g. cleaning, grinding).
Reading Blueprints- Interpreting technical drawings and specifications to plan layouts and determine welding techniques.
Inspecting and Testing-Checking finished welds for accuracy, strength and adherence to specifications using measuring tools and visual inspection.
Coordination- Working with other tradespeople(e.g. fabrications, fitters)to complete projects.
Equipment Maintenance- Operating and maintaining welding equipment, including inspecting for damage and replacing parts.
Material handling- Selecting, measuring and handling appropriate metals and welding supplies.
