The Traffic & Tracking Executive is responsible for monitoring vehicle movement, coordinating with drivers and transporters, and ensuring timely pickup and delivery of consignments. The role focuses on route planning, real-time tracking, exception handling, and effective communication to support smooth logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Tracking & Monitoring
Track vehicles in real time using GPS and fleet management systems.
Monitor trip progress, transit time, and route adherence.
Identify delays, breakdowns, route deviations, or stoppages and take corrective action.
Traffic & Route Coordination
Plan and optimize routes to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
Coordinate with drivers regarding traffic conditions, diversions, and delivery instructions.
Provide real-time guidance to drivers to avoid delays and congestion.
Driver Coordination
Maintain regular communication with drivers for status updates.
Ensure drivers follow scheduled reporting, trip sheets, and company SOPs.
Assist drivers during emergencies such as breakdowns, accidents, or route issues.
Customer & Internal Coordination
Share live shipment status with internal teams and customers as required.
Escalate delays or exceptions to operations and customer service teams.
Coordinate with warehouse, loading, and unloading teams for smooth operations.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain trip records, tracking logs, POD status, and exception reports.
Ensure timely closure of trips in the system.
Prepare daily MIS reports on vehicle movement, delays, and delivery performance.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure drivers comply with road safety rules and company policies.
Monitor driving behavior, speed alerts, and rest periods (where applicable).
Support compliance with transport regulations and internal SOPs.
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of logistics operations and transport routing
Familiarity with GPS tracking and fleet management systems
Strong communication and coordination skills
Ability to handle pressure and resolve issues quickly
Basic knowledge of transport documentation and POD process
Good computer skills (MS Excel, ERP / TMS systems)
Qualifications & Experience
Graduate / Diploma in any discipline (Logistics preferred)
1-4 years of experience in traffic control, fleet tracking, or transport operations
Experience in logistics, transport, or courier companies preferred
Preferred Attributes
Experience in 24/7 operations or shift-based roles
Knowledge of regional routes and traffic patterns
Ability to multitask and manage multiple vehicles simultaneously
