Key Responsibilities:
1. Vehicle & Transport Coordination:
Plan and schedule daily movement of heavy vehicles (trailers, trucks, cranes, etc.) for material dispatch and unloading.
Monitor vehicle arrivals, loading/unloading times, and turnaround efficiency.
Coordinate with transporters, drivers, and logistics vendors for smooth vehicle flow.
Maintain updated knowledge of
freight rates, toll charges, and transport tariffs
for various destinations.
2. Loading & Unloading Supervision:
Supervise safe and efficient loading/unloading of
steel materials
such as TMT bars, angles, channels, beams, plates, and fabricated components.
Ensure proper stacking, weight distribution, and securing of loads to avoid damage or accidents.
Verify materials against dispatch documents (Challan, Invoice, E-way Bill, etc.) before vehicle release.
Ensure usage of proper handling equipment like cranes, forklifts, and slings as per safety norms.
3. Labour & Team Management:
Manage and allocate labour teams for material handling, loading, and unloading tasks.
Monitor worker performance, attendance, and discipline within the yard/warehouse area.
Resolve disputes or coordination issues between drivers, loaders, and supervisors.
Maintain productivity and adherence to work schedules.
4. Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain vehicle movement registers, gate entry logs, and dispatch records.
Record weight, material type, and destination details for each consignment.
Coordinate with the store, dispatch, and accounts teams for invoice verification and transporter payments.
Prepare daily MIS on vehicle movements, labour deployment, and transport costs.
5. Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all loading/unloading operations comply with
factory safety guidelines
.
Conduct routine checks on PPE (helmets, gloves, safety shoes) for workers.
Ensure vehicle documents (insurance, fitness, permits) are valid before entry.
Take immediate action in case of material damage, delay, or accident.
Technical Competencies:
Knowledge of
transport tariffs
, freight costing, and route planning.
Familiarity with
steel product handling techniques
.
Basic understanding of
weighbridge operation
and documentation flow.
Proficiency in MS Excel / Google Sheets for tracking and reporting.
Experience in coordinating with logistics and warehouse teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Graduate or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years in
factory traffic control, dispatch, or logistics supervision
, preferably in the steel or heavy manufacturing sector.
Preferred Background:
Candidates with experience in
steel plants, warehouses, fabrication units, or logistics companies
.
