Candidate specification:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant subject.
  • 3-7 years\' experience in traction power engineering within a Railway design and build or consultancy business.
  • A Chartered engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or working towards CEng/IEng
  • Trained in both Microstation and Autocad CAD environments
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills
  • A growth mindset and an ability to learn quickly on the job.
  • Excellent analytical skills, confident with data, spreadsheets, modelling and simulations;

An exciting Electrical Engineer role has become available for an ambitious individual to join the Traction Power team undertaking railway traction power consultancy & design projects of various sizes, many of which are multi-disciplinary in nature. The successful candidate will be highly organised, self-starting, and entrepreneurial in nature, fully able to demonstrate very good time management and communication skills, as well as the ability to work to deadlines. A curious mind and an appetite for learning are essential to thrive in our consultancy environment.

This role is based in our Noida office, India. Depending on project requirements, there may also be a need to travel to other locations (company or client, office or site) overseas.

Job description:
  • Development of AC & DC traction power systems for light, heavy, high speed and freight railways;
  • Use of traction load-flow simulation package (e.g. TRAIN+MCE or equivalent) to model traction power systems;
  • Production of AC and DC traction substation designs;
  • Production of earthing and bonding designs;
  • Production of electrical protection schemes and calculation of relay settings;
  • Production of specifications to support procurement of traction power equipment;
  • Site surveys;
  • Use of CAD to produce 2D and 3D traction substation drawings, schematics, and diagrams;
  • Provision of input to other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects, including: civils/structures, SCADA, LV power, signalling, system assurance, etc.
  • Analysis of electromagnetic coupling mechanisms (conducted, induced and/or radiated electromagnetic interferences) within AC and DC rail systems;
  • Identification and management of electromagnetic compatibility hazards (HAZID, Hazard log) within AC and DC rail systems;
