Job description - Track Alignment Engineer (TAEng)
Purpose of the Job
Use the technical knowledges in Railway track alignment to:
- Provide the guideline bases of design and verify the compliance
- Implement the track alignment design of mainlines and depots
- Coordinate the activity with E&M railways entities and Civil works partners
- Identify and minimize technical risks linked to track alignment impacting the cost/planning
- Provide clear visibility of track alignment activity to project management and Alignment Manager based on HQ

- Functional: PrEMs of each tender & project he/she works
Network & Links
Internal:
- Track Alignment Manager based on Central Engineering (HQ)
- Project Engineering Manager, Project Technical Manager, participating Products Lines design engineers.
- Sub-system engineering (Rolling Stock, Signalling, Track, Overhead lines, APS, T&C).
External:
- Customers, Consortium partners, Design sub-contractors, Civil works & Railway Interfaces.

- Meeting customers requirements without over-engineering

- Design compatibility with safe construction, design progress and approval to budget and programme, design performance per specification, product compliance to design
Responsibilities
Accountable for:
- Manage and analyse the necessary inputs from entities involved in tender/project phase
- For the compliance of the track alignment design developed in front of the Client/Consortium Partners/Alstom requirements and needs.
Responsible for:
- Prepare and supervise the track Alignment design deliverables (drawings, calculations, reports, proposals etc) in close coordination with PrEM.
- QCD of the alignment deliverables (principally drawings and reports) developed
- Bring clear analysis and propose cost effective technical solutions with PrEM or trackwork technical manager.
- To ensure that the alignment design is implemented in compliance with the contract and that the design is compatible with the highest standards of health & safety,
- To ensure optimal design of interfaces within ALSTOM TRANSPORT
- To ensure efficient coordination with other parties,
- Assist and support local Engineers, technicians and Cad operators
Knowledge & Experience:
University Degree in Engineering (Knowledge of civil or mechanical or Topography).
2 years minimum experience Engineering/design activities (within rail or road Alignment design environment).
3 years minimum Track Alignment design knowledge basis are required
Theoretical and practical Knowledge of topographic matters are appreciated
Design experience obligatory.
Construction knowledge preferred

Power Rail Track, OpenRail design (Bentley): 3/5 level
Covadis and Autopiste (Geomedia): 3/5 level
CIVIL 3D: 3/5 level
AutoCAD & MicroStation: 4/5 level
Knowledge on calculation tools (Excel) and office equipment 3/5 level
Good communication skills
Langues
English: Fluent French: Fluent
Others langues are advantageous
