The TLVA Survey Engineer is responsible for carrying out Top Load Visual Assessment (TLVA) surveys for telecom towers to evaluate structural condition, loading status, and safety compliance. The role supports tower strengthening, co-location, and network expansion activities.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct TLVA surveys for telecom towers (GSM, RTT, GBT, monopole, rooftop towers).
Perform detailed visual inspection of tower members, bracings, bolts, welds, ladders, platforms, and foundations.
Assess existing and additional loading such as antennas, RRUs, microwave dishes, mounts, cables, and accessories.
Identify corrosion, deformation, missing/damaged members, loose bolts, and other structural defects.
Verify tower configuration against drawings and on-site conditions.
Collect accurate measurements, site details, and geo-tagged photographs as per TLVA checklist.
Prepare and submit TLVA survey reports with observations, risk levels, and recommendations.
Ensure strict compliance with safety norms, PPE usage, and work-at-height procedures.
Coordinate with O&M, RF, and design teams for site access and technical clarifications.
Support audits, re-surveys, and client queries related to TLVA findings.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Strong knowledge of telecom tower structures and components.
Familiarity with TLVA process, load calculation basics, and tower safety standards.
Understanding of telecom equipment: antennas, MW dishes, RRUs, feeder cables, mounts, and trays.
Ability to read and interpret tower drawings, GA layouts, and site documents.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and reporting formats.
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering.
TLVA certification or formal training (preferred).
Experience
1-5 years of experience in telecom tower surveys, inspections, or structural field work.
Freshers with relevant educational background and training may also be considered.
