Job Description

A Tooling Supervisor manages the design, production, maintenance, and repair of tools, dies, molds, and fixtures used in manufacturing to ensure they meet quality, safety, and production requirements. Key responsibilities include leading a team of technicians or toolmakers, coordinating with other departments like engineering and production, managing tooling budgets and inventory, troubleshooting tooling issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities

Oversee Tooling Operations:

Manage the day-to-day activities of the tool room, ensuring all processes run smoothly.

Manage Tooling & Equipment:

Supervise the design, maintenance, and repair of tools, dies, molds, and other manufacturing equipment.

Team Leadership:

Train, supervise, and coordinate a team of toolmakers, technicians, or other staff to meet production goals.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure that all tooling meets the required quality standards and specifications for the manufacturing process.

Safety Compliance:

Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

Work with engineering, production, purchasing, and quality control teams to support new product development and production needs.

Troubleshooting & Optimization:

Identify and resolve technical issues with tooling, and recommend improvements to optimize tooling performance and efficiency.

Inventory & Budget Management:

Oversee tool inventory, manage tooling budgets, and control costs for the department.
Essential Skills & Qualifications

Technical Knowledge:

Strong understanding of tooling, die making, machining, and manufacturing processes.

Leadership & Management:

Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise a technical team.

Problem-Solving:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical issues.

Organizational Skills:

Excellent organizational skills to manage inventory, budgets, and work schedules.

Communication:

Ability to coordinate effectively with various departments and stakeholders.

Education & Experience:

Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent with significant hands-on experience in a relevant field like tool and die making.
