The Tool Room Incharge is responsible for overseeing the tool room operations, ensuring the availability, maintenance, and management of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and molds required for production. This role involves supervising the tool room team, planning preventive maintenance, and ensuring quality standards are met for all tools and components.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and monitor daily tool room activities to support smooth production operations.
Manage the development, modification, and maintenance of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
Implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and increase tool life.
Supervise tool makers, machinists, and technicians, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Coordinate with production, design, and maintenance teams to resolve tooling issues promptly.
Maintain accurate inventory records of tools, spare parts, and consumables.
Ensure calibration of measuring instruments and tools as per standards.
Control costs by optimizing tool usage and reducing waste.
Prepare and maintain tool room documentation such as maintenance reports, tool life data, and performance logs.
Train and mentor tool room staff to enhance their technical skills.
Qualifications & Skills:
Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Tool & Die Making (ITI/NTC preferred).
5-10 years of experience in tool room operations, preferably in manufacturing/automotive/engineering industries.
Strong knowledge of machining processes, tool design, and preventive maintenance.
Proficiency in CNC/Conventional machines, CAD/CAM software is an advantage.
Excellent leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Good understanding of safety standards and quality management systems (ISO/TS).
