The Tool Room Engineer is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and repair of tools, jigs, fixtures, molds, and dies used in manufacturing. The role ensures that all tooling equipment functions efficiently to support smooth production operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures as per production requirements.
Supervise tool room activities including tool manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance.
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of tools and molds.
Ensure dimensional accuracy of tools through proper calibration and inspection.
Coordinate with the production team to resolve tooling-related issues.
Maintain tool inventory and ensure proper documentation.
Implement cost reduction initiatives by improving tool life and reducing downtime.
Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards in the tool room.
Liaise with vendors or suppliers for tool fabrication or material procurement.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of machining processes (CNC, EDM, Grinding, Milling, Turning).
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
Knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment, and tolerances.
Problem-solving and analytical skills.
Good leadership and communication skills.
