1. New Tools Development
Coordinate with the Director for designing and developing new products based on market trends and customer requirements.
Prepare detailed product designs ensuring compliance with company standards and production feasibility.
Oversee 3D printing of prototypes and ensure accuracy, functionality, and design intent.
Present prototypes for approval and implement feedback for final design readiness.
Ensure smooth transition from approved design to die and mold development.
2. Die and Mold Development
Supervise design, development, and validation of new dies and molds as per approved drawings.
Coordinate with toolmakers and designers to ensure molds meet quality, cost, and production requirements.
Ensure dies and molds are optimized for productivity, durability, and ease of maintenance.
3. Die and Mold Maintenance & Alteration
Plan and monitor preventive maintenance of dies and molds to avoid breakdowns and quality issues.
Conduct root cause analysis of mold failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Carry out alterations and improvements in existing dies and molds as per production and design changes.
Maintain records of mold history, repairs, modifications, and lifecycle status.
4. EDM, CNC & VMC Section Management
Manage daily operations, calibration, and troubleshooting of EDM, CNC, and VMC machines.
Ensure machining parameters are set correctly for precision and efficiency.
Develop and supervise VMC machining programs for die and mold manufacturing.
Monitor operator performance and ensure compliance with SOPs and quality standards.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
Coordinate with production, quality, and tool room teams for smooth product launch and ongoing support.
Liaise with vendors, designers, and external toolmakers for timely development and modifications.
6. Training & Team Development
Train and guide tool room staff on design practices, machine operation, and mold maintenance.
Support skill development and adoption of new technologies within the team.
7. Process Improvement & Cost Optimization
Identify opportunities for design improvement, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement.
Implement process improvements to reduce mold development lead time and machining cycle time.
Stay updated with latest tooling and manufacturing technologies relevant to NPD.
8. Reporting & Performance Monitoring
Report NPD progress, tool development status, and challenges directly to the Director.
Monitor and report KPIs related to prototype success rate, mold development timelines, and production readiness.
