Tool/ Die Design Engineer
Job Description
Design Punching tools / Piercing die for the tool room using our current SolidWorks / Catia / Inventor + AutoCAD Provide designs that are manufacturable, accurate, meet project scope, and will work with departments in the plant to ensure work conveys correct information and is error-free Good knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing Select or recommend use of layouts, graphics, drawings, or illustrations to amplify publication objectives Use our current 3D Cad software to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings, images, and other forms of communication Must follow established design guidelines and standards Follow the direction of the lead designer in the area of tool design Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time Must be able to provide weekly updates and timelines with Gantt charts Personal skills: Excellent working knowledge of SolidWorks AutoCAD. Strong background in progressive die design, metal working materials, mechanics, Required experience in a metal stamping environment (i.e. knowledge of presses and different dies used in metal stamping such as progressive, draw, miscellaneous, etc.) Required experience and familiarity with CNC machine tools and parts making Associates Degree in Mechanical Design/Drafting or related field Good verbal and written communication skills Solid mechanical aptitude and the ability to work as part of a team Understanding of different materials and production methods Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
