Job Overview:

The Tool Design Engineer for Fasteners is responsible for designing and developing tools, dies, and fixtures used in the manufacturing of fasteners. This includes working closely with production teams to improve tooling efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure high-quality manufacturing standards for fastener products. The role requires expertise in designing tools for various fastener types, such as bolts, nuts, screws, washers, and other hardware components.

Key Responsibilities:

Create detailed designs and specifications for tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures required for the production of fasteners, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. Collaborate with the manufacturing team to create prototypes and conduct testing to validate tool designs. Troubleshoot and resolve design issues during the testing phase. Work closely with production engineers to identify opportunities for improving tool designs, reducing tool wear, increasing tool life, and enhancing overall productivity. Select appropriate materials for tool production based on strength, durability, and cost efficiency, ensuring that the tools are well-suited to the fastener materials and production processes. Assist with creating detailed technical documentation, including assembly instructions, drawings, and schematics. Use CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA) to create 3D models and technical drawings of tools, ensuring that designs meet precise specifications and are manufacturable. Stay updated on industry trends and innovations related to fastener tooling and design. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design tools). Basic knowledge of fastener applications and manufacturing processes.
