Job Summary:
The Finance Systems Support professional will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and operational support of IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) modules. The role involves maintaining master data (attributes, dimensions), performing data reconciliations, executing month-end close activities, and supporting ad hoc reporting needs.
At the Manager level, this role additionally includes team leadership, handling escalations, task prioritization, and providing subject matter expertise for finance system upgrades and optimization projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. TM1 Administration & Data Maintenance

  • Manage and update attributes, dimensions, and hierarchies (e.g., Business Units, Entities).
  • Perform regular updates to maintain data integrity and consistency.
  • Coordinate and validate rate updates (e.g., cost rates, forex rates, tax rates) with Finance and business teams.
2. Data Integrity & Reconciliation
  • Conduct data reconciliations between TM1 and source systems (ERP/SQL).
  • Analyze reconciliation reports, investigate variances, and resolve data anomalies.
  • Perform routine integrity checks to ensure system accuracy and completeness.
3. Mapping & Master Data Management
  • Maintain and update mapping tables based on periodic checks and business requests.
  • Validate mapping changes with stakeholders and ensure timely deployment.
  • Keep project and master data mappings accurate and up-to-date.
4. Month-End Close Support
  • Coordinate with Finance teams on month-end schedules and communicate close timelines.
  • Publish daily dashboards and progress reports during close activities.
  • Execute soft and hard close processes in TM1 and validate data completeness before period closure.
5. Reporting & Data Extraction
  • Generate ad hoc reports and data extracts using SQL and TM1 views.
  • Support Finance teams with one-off analysis and reporting needs.
  • Maintain data confidentiality and security in all reporting activities.
6. Issue Management & Operational Support
  • Perform initial triage of TM1 system issues, conduct root cause analysis, and resolve where possible.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to technical support or managed services teams.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively address potential risks.
7. Project & Continuous Improvement Support
  • Participate in finance system projects, upgrades, and UAT activities.
  • Provide inputs on system design improvements and process optimizations.
  • Document processes, mappings, and updates thoroughly.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline TM1 operations.
8. (Manager Level) Team Leadership & Escalations
  • Lead and mentor a small team (3-10 members) managing BAU and month-end activities.
  • Handle task allocation, escalations, and team wellness initiatives.
  • Drive process improvement discussions and cross-team collaboration.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 1 to 8 years of relevant experience in:
  • Financial systems support or planning tool administration (TM1 preferred).
  • Data maintenance, reconciliation, and financial close processes.
  • Hands-on experience with TM1 for:
  • Cube maintenance, attribute updates, data loading, rule writing.
  • Mapping tables and dimension hierarchies.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data extraction and reconciliation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work independently to meet deadlines.
Preferred:
  • Hands-on experience with IBM Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW) and PAx.
  • Prior exposure to finance data workflows (budgeting, forecasting, or consolidation).
  • Experience in working with cross-functional finance and IT teams.
  • For Manager Level:
  • Team management and mentoring experience.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage escalations during peak periods.
