To perform high-quality TIG welding operations on sheet metal components, ensuring strong, accurate, and clean welds in accordance with engineering drawings, welding standards, and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities
TIG Welding Process Knowledge
Perform TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, mild steel, and other alloys as per requirements.
Apply correct welding techniques to achieve high-quality joints.
Parameter Setup
Set appropriate current, voltage, gas flow, and filler material parameters.
Adjust machine settings to suit material thickness and type.
Material Preparation
Clean, cut, and prepare base materials before welding.
Ensure proper edge preparation and surface condition.
Joint Types & Fit-Up
Perform welding on various joints (butt, fillet, corner, T-joints, lap joints).
Ensure proper alignment, clamping, and gap control before welding.
Welding Techniques
Execute consistent weld beads with good penetration, fusion, and appearance.
Minimize spatter, distortion, discoloration and defects through correct technique.
Weld Quality & Inspection
Conduct self-inspection of welds using gauges, measuring tools, and visual checks.
Follow quality standards and rectify weld defects if any.
Welding Positions
Perform welding in different positions (1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, 6G as applicable).
Blueprint Reading
Interpret welding symbols, engineering drawings, and fabrication sketches.
Follow assembly requirements as per drawings.
Safety Practices
Adhere to workplace safety rules and use PPE (helmet, gloves, apron, etc.).
Handle gases and equipment safely to prevent accidents.
Equipment Maintenance
Maintain TIG welding machine, torch, gas regulators, and accessories in good working condition.
Report breakdowns or malfunctions immediately.
Measuring Equipment Use
Use vernier calipers, micrometers, angle protractors, weld gauges, and other measuring tools.
Ensure accuracy in dimensions and weld alignment.
Purging Skill
Perform back purging with argon gas for stainless steel/aluminum welds.
Ensure clean, oxidation-free internal weld surfaces.
Qualifications & Experience
ITI / Diploma in Welding / Fabrication / Fitter trade (preferred).
Minimum 4 years of TIG welding experience in sheet metal / fabrication industry.
Certification in TIG welding (if applicable) is an added advantage.

Strong knowledge of TIG welding processes and standards.
