Job Description

Responsibilities
1.

Welding Operations

Perform TIG welding (GTAW - Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) on metals like stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and exotic alloys. Use non-consumable tungsten electrodes and inert shielding gases (typically argon or helium). Weld thin materials with high precision, often in aerospace, automotive, and medical industries. Regulate gas flow and pressure using cylinder gauges and valves.
2.

Equipment Handling

Operate and maintain TIG welding machines, grinders, buffing tools, and hoist systems. Select and install torch tips, filler rods, and flux based on metal thickness and type. Monitor argon purity and maintain backup systems for shielding gas.
3.

Preparation and Setup

Lay out, measure, and align metal workpieces before welding. Clean and prepare surfaces to ensure contaminant-free weld zones. Preheat and postheat components to prevent cracking and ensure weld strength.
4.

Blueprint and Code Interpretation

Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings. Follow welding procedure specifications (WPS) and adhere to industry codes like AWS D1.1, D17.1, API 1104, and NADCAP standards.
5.

Testing and Inspection

Conduct leak detection tests on tanks, pumps, and piping systems. Perform visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) such as dye penetrant or ultrasonic testing. Ensure welds meet dimensional and structural specifications.
6.

Safety and Compliance

Follow strict safety protocols including PPE usage (helmet, gloves, respirators). Understand occupational hazards and implement effective safety precautions. Maintain clean and organized workspaces to prevent accidents
