Key Responsibilities:

Operate manual or automatic threading machines to create internal or external threads on pipes, rods, bolts, and other metal components. Read and interpret job drawings, thread specifications (metric/UNC/UNF/BSP), and machining instructions. Set up the threading machine--adjust dies, chasers, speed, feed, and lubrication settings. Inspect raw materials for dimensions, straightness, and surface condition. Perform accurate threading operations while maintaining required pitch, depth, and tolerance. Use measuring instruments (thread gauges, vernier calipers, micrometers) to check thread quality. Ensure proper lubrication, cooling, and chip removal during threading operations. Maintain production logs, job cards, and inspection records. Perform routine cleaning, oiling, and minor maintenance of the threading machine. Follow safety protocols including PPE usage, machine guarding, and safe material handling. Report tool wear, machine faults, or material discrepancies to the supervisor.

Skills & Competencies:

Hands-on experience with threading machines (manual/automatic). Knowledge of thread standards--metric, UNC/UNF, BSW, BSP, NPT, etc. Ability to use thread gauges, pitch gauges, and measuring tools. Understanding of machining operations and metal behavior. Attention to detail and ability to work with precision. Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills. Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.

Qualifications:

ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Turner, Machinist, or related mechanical trade (preferred). 2+ years of experience in a machining or fabrication environment.
