About Us:
Space Machines Company (SMC) is an Australian startup developing in-space logistics and transportation capabilities to cost-effectively insert small satellites into desired low earth orbits(LEO), geostationary earth orbits (GEO) and lunar orbits. SMC spacecrafts are also designed to maintain, refuel, repair and decommission satellites and other spacecraft.
Responsibilities:
The Thermal Design Engineer will own:
- Building thermal model and orbital heating simulations
- Mathematical modelling of components
- CFD simulation of thruster and propellant
- Thermal management of electronic systems
- Test plans and assist in testing campaigns
- Material selection and vendor management
- Documentation of product development milestones
- Other duties as required.
Candidates with 3 to 7 years of experience in related roles can apply.
Masters or PhD in aerospace engineering, thermal engineering, mechanical engineering or related fields.
Should have knowledge and experience in the following:
- Thermodynamics and heat transfer calculations
- Electronic thermal design and packaging using tools like Nastran, Siemens NX, Flotherm, Femap, Ansys Fluent, Ideas-TMG or similar
- Orbital heating simulations using TMG, ESATAN-TMS
- Mathematical models using matlab, python or similar
