Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, drapes, and equipment. Ensure sterility is maintained throughout the surgical procedure. Assist the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies during operations. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly. Count surgical instruments, sponges, and supplies before and after procedures. Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures and instruments used. Adhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, and safety protocols. Collaborate with circulating nurses, anesthesiologists, and other surgical staff. Ensure the proper disposal of surgical waste and contaminated materials. Assist in the turnover of operating rooms between procedures.

Qualifications:

Registered Nurse (RN) with current and valid nursing license. Post-registration qualification or training in perioperative or theatre nursing is preferred. Proven experience in an operating room environment as a scrub nurse. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is a plus. Strong understanding of aseptic and sterile techniques. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
