Overview: Foundation Diaspora in Action for Human Rights and Democracy (DAHRD) formerly known as Foundation The London Story (TLS) is a non-profit organisation led by Indian diaspora, and a leading voice promoting human rights and democratic values in EU-India relations. DAHRD's objectives are to investigate human rights violations and abuses, analyse and document governmental and non-governmental action that perpetuates or ignores human rights abuses and violations, and advocate for justice, peace, and collective action against grave human rights violations. DAHRD specifically focuses on misinformation, disinformation, hate speech, and online propaganda that lead to violations of core human rights to life, liberty and health, especially in India. We are looking for a Researcher to investigate the role of social media platforms in shaping political opinions and democratic outputs. The researcher will track online activity, identify patterns of coordinated manipulation, and situate these dynamics within broader political, legal, and regulatory environment. Key Responsibilities

Monitor activity on major social media platforms (Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp, and regional platforms).

Identify trends in disinformation campaigns, hate speech, coordinated inauthentic behavior, and political messaging.

Map narratives designed to polarize communities along religious, caste, regional, or political lines.

Situate findings within India's electoral and political dynamics, to identify how platforms are uses for political communication.

Produce high quality regular briefs and reports highlighting patterns of online manipulation, their offline impacts, and regulatory or policy responses.

Contribute to larger research projects on tech accountability, democracy, and social cohesion.

organize workshops and discussions on disinformation, political communication, and digital governance.

Maintain regular contact with media and CSOs to disseminate and share findings. Qualifications

Academic Background: Master's degree (or advanced training) in political science, law, media studies, sociology, or related fields.

Strong understanding of Indian politics, society, and media environment.

Familiarity with methods for analyzing social media manipulation (e.g., tracking hashtags, identifying coordinated behavior, fact-checking).

Ability to contextualize digital manipulation within broader social divides and political strategies.

Excellent writing and analytical skills, with the ability to produce timely, accessible reports. Experience:

Prior research experience in disinformation studies, political communication, media, or digital governance.

Experience with tools for social media monitoring or digital ethnography methods.
