Job Description

The TGT Social Science Teacher is responsible for teaching History, Civics, Geography, and Economics to students of middle and secondary classes (usually Grades 6-10). The teacher must plan engaging lessons, deliver curriculum effectively, assess student learning, and maintain a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities Teaching & Classroom Management

Teach Social Science subjects (History, Civics/Political Science, Geography, Economics) as per CBSE curriculum. Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and learning activities. Maintain discipline and create a safe, inclusive, student-friendly classroom environment. Use interactive teaching methods--ICT, audio-visual tools, and modern pedagogy.

Assessment & Evaluation

Conduct regular assessments--class tests, assignments, projects, and exams. Evaluate and record students' progress and provide constructive feedback. Prepare question papers, answer keys, and result reports.

Academic Responsibilities

Maintain student attendance, records, and grade books. Participate in curriculum planning, academic meetings, and school events. Provide remedial classes to support slow learners.

Student Development

Encourage critical thinking, debate, map work, and project-based learning. Support students in social science exhibitions, Olympiads, and competitions. Guide students in developing civic sense, awareness, and social responsibility.

Professional Conduct

Ensure adherence to school policies, academic standards, and ethical guidelines. Engage in continuous professional development and training programs.

Skills & Competencies

Strong command of Social Science subjects. Good communication and classroom management skills. Ability to use smart-class tools and digital platforms. Creative teaching approach and student-centric mindset. Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree

with Social Science major (History/Geography/Political Science/Economics).

B.Ed.

CTET/TET qualified

(preferred). Minimum

1-3 years of teaching experience
