Role Summary
We are seeking a passionate, committed and competent English teacher to join our school for teaching classes 5 through 10. The candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering and assessing English language & literature lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum, fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment, and contributing to the overall academic and personal development of students.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver effective lessons in English language & literature for Grades 5-10, in line with CBSE syllabus and school academic calendar.
Develop engaging teaching materials (worksheets, handouts, project work, assignments) and utilise varied pedagogical methods to meet diverse learner needs.
Assess student performance regularly via tests, assignments, quizzes, oral/written tasks; provide timely and constructive feedback.
Monitor student progress and maintain academic records (grades, attendance, behavior) and communicate with parents/guardians as needed.
Encourage and develop student communication skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening) and creative appreciation of literature.
Foster a positive, inclusive, disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning and holistic growth.
Participate in school₹driven activities: co-curricular/literary events (debates, elocution, drama, etc), excursions, club activities, competitions.
Work collaboratively with the Head of Department (HOD), academic coordinator and other faculty to plan curriculum, coordinate cross-subject projects and professional development.
Stay updated on best practices in teaching English, educational technology, CBSE curriculum changes, and apply these to enhance student learning.
Take remedial/extra classes for students who need support; prepare substitute lesson plans when required.
Perform any other academic or administrative duties assigned by school leadership.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
Essential:
Bachelor's degree in English (B.A. English, or equivalent) - Master's preferred.
B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) or equivalent teacher₹training qualification.
Fluent command of English (spoken and written); ability to motivate and engage students.
Good classroom management skills, creativity in teaching, ability to use teaching aids/ICT tools.
Familiarity with CBSE curriculum for Grades 5-10, understanding of students' developmental needs at these levels.
Prior experience teaching at a CBSE school for middle/senior school (Grades 6-10) is preferred.
Desirable:
Master's degree in English.
CTET/TET qualification.
Experience in co-curricular/literary activities (debates, drama, literature clubs).
Familiarity with technology-enhanced teaching (smart-class, online tools).
Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills
