Role Overview
To develop students' proficiency and confidence in the English language through engaging lessons that build reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. The teacher will nurture creativity, comprehension, and expression while fostering a lifelong appreciation for literature and effective communication. The goal is to equip students with linguistic and analytical skills essential for academic success and responsible global citizenship.
Key Responsibilities
Language Instruction:
Deliver well-structured lessons covering grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing, tailored to students' age and proficiency levels.
Reading & Literature:
Introduce students to diverse genres of literature, fostering imagination, empathy, and appreciation for language and storytelling.
Writing Skills:
Guide students in creative, descriptive, and formal writing, focusing on clarity, coherence, and originality.
Speaking & Listening:
Conduct interactive sessions, debates, and presentations to enhance students' verbal communication and listening comprehension.
Assessment:
Design and administer periodic assessments to evaluate linguistic proficiency and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
Curriculum Implementation:
Ensure lesson plans and activities align with CBSE guidelines and the school's academic framework.
Language Enrichment:
Encourage reading habits, critical thinking, and participation in literary events such as elocutions, essay competitions, and dramatics.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The following KPIs are based on the operational standards set by the management of The Academic City School. The numerical precision of these indicators ensures accountability and measurable growth in student learning outcomes.
Student Feedback:
Minimum 80% positive feedback through structured surveys.
Parent Feedback:
Minimum 80% positive feedback collected via periodic surveys.
Syllabi Completion:
100% of the prescribed syllabus to be covered and documented in the syllabi format.
Student Improvement:
Each student should show at least a 10% improvement from the first to subsequent internal assessments.
Academic Performance:
At least 50% of students should score above 75% in internal and term-end assessments.
Skills
Excellent command of English (spoken and written), engaging classroom communication, student mentoring, creativity in teaching, adaptability, teamwork, and a passion for language education.
Qualifications
Bachelor's/Master's degree in English or Literature.
B.Ed. (Residential school experience preferred).
