The Testing & Validation Engineer is responsible for ensuring that machines, systems, and sub-assemblies meet functional, performance, safety, and quality requirements. The role involves systematic testing, validation, troubleshooting, and documentation to ensure reliable and robust machine performance before dispatch and during customer acceptance.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Validation Activities
Plan and execute testing and validation activities for SPM machines, automation systems, and sub-assemblies.
Conduct functional, performance, endurance, and safety tests as per specifications.
Validate machine cycles, takt time, accuracy, repeatability, and reliability.
Perform FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and support SAT (Site Acceptance Test).
Mechanical, Electrical & Controls Validation
Test and validate:
Mechanical systems (fixtures, mechanisms, hydraulics, pneumatics, tooling)
Electrical systems (panels, wiring, motors, VFDs, sensors)
Control systems (PLC logic, HMI functionality, servo tuning, interlocks, alarms)
Verify sensor logic, I/O checks, and safety interlocks.
Support debugging of machine issues during trials.
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare test plans, test cases, and validation protocols.
Record test results, deviations, and observations.
Generate validation reports, FAT reports, and compliance checklists.
Ensure traceability of test results against customer specifications.
Issue Tracking & Improvement
Identify defects, root causes, and corrective actions.
Coordinate with design, automation, manufacturing, and quality teams for issue closure.
Support continuous improvement and design validation feedback.
Customer & Cross-Functional Support
Participate in customer FATs and technical discussions.
Support commissioning and initial ramp-up issues if required.
Work closely with project and service teams during trials and handover.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure machines comply with internal quality standards and safety norms.
Support risk assessments, interlock verification, and safety validation.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of
SPM machines and industrial automation
Good knowledge of
Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics systems
Hands-on experience with
PLC, HMI, sensors, servo drives
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
Good documentation and communication skills
Qualification & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics)
4-8 years of experience in testing, validation, FAT, or commissioning of industrial machines
