What this job involves:



The Testing and Commissioning Manager leads the systematic verification and validation of building systems to ensure they operate according to design specifications and performance requirements. This role manages the commissioning process from pre-construction through warranty phases, coordinating with design teams, contractors, and facility operators to deliver fully functional, efficient building systems.



Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership and Planning Plans and manages commissioning activities across multiple projects, developing comprehensive commissioning plans that outline testing procedures, acceptance criteria, and quality assurance protocols. Coordinates commissioning schedules with construction timelines and ensures proper resource allocation throughout project phases.

Systems Testing and Verification Oversees functional performance testing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, security, and building automation systems. Conducts witness testing of equipment installations, validates system integration and interoperability, and ensures compliance with design documents, specifications, and applicable codes.

Team Management and Coordination Manages commissioning teams including technicians, specialists, and external consultants. Coordinates closely with general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, and client representatives to resolve technical issues and maintain project momentum.

Documentation and Reporting Maintains comprehensive testing documentation, deficiency tracking systems, and commissioning reports. Prepares final commissioning documentation including operation and maintenance manuals, warranty information, and system performance baselines for facility handover.

Quality Assurance and Compliance Ensures all commissioned systems meet performance specifications, energy efficiency targets, and regulatory requirements. Reviews submittal documents, conducts system demonstrations for facility operators, and provides training on proper system operation and maintenance procedures.



Required QualificationsEducation and Experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Engineering, or related technical field. Minimum 5-7 years of experience in building systems commissioning, with demonstrated progression in project responsibility and team leadership.



Technical Expertise Professional certification as a Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) or Building Commissioning Professional (BCxP) preferred. Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and building automation systems. Familiarity with commissioning standards including ASHRAE Guideline 0 and 1.1.



Skills and Competencies Excellent project management capabilities with experience using project management software and commissioning tracking tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications. Effective communication skills for presenting findings to diverse stakeholder groups.



Working ConditionsPosition involves significant time in active construction environments requiring appropriate safety equipment and protocols. Frequent travel to project sites with occasional extended assignments. Standard business hours with flexibility for critical testing activities and project milestones.

You will also help are also in charge of identifying project risks and implement measures to mitigating them. Furthermore, you will create project-related reports, analyses and reviews.
