Job Description

Testing and Commissioning of Electrical Systems

: Perform site-specific testing and commissioning of electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, protection relays, bus bars, cables, and more. Execute tests for both Low Tension (LT) and High Tension (HT) equipment in compliance with national and international standards. Coordinate and supervise electrical pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for power plants and substations.

Equipment Inspection and Verification

: Conduct inspections of electrical installations, including verification of correct wiring, grounding, and equipment configuration. Test equipment such as voltage transformers, current transformers, protection relays, and electrical protection schemes to ensure proper functionality.

Troubleshooting and Diagnostics

: Identify faults or issues during testing, perform diagnostic procedures, and provide solutions to resolve them effectively and efficiently. Collaborate with the design and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.

Documentation and Reporting

: Prepare and maintain detailed test reports, commissioning procedures, and as-built documentation. Ensure all tests are documented and results are analysed for future reference or audits. Provide input to technical documentation, such as equipment manuals, operation manuals, and schematics.

Safety Compliance

: Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures while conducting testing and commissioning activities. Review and implement safety procedures to mitigate electrical hazards during commissioning and testing phases.

Coordination with Stakeholders

: Liaise with vendors, subcontractors, and the project management team to ensure smooth execution of testing and commissioning tasks. Coordinate with the operations team to transition from commissioning phase to full operational status.

Quality Assurance and Standards Compliance

: Ensure all activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Conduct tests such as insulation resistance, continuity, polarity checks, primary and secondary injection tests, and functional tests on electrical systems.

Post-Commissioning Support

: Provide technical support during the handover phase and assist in troubleshooting any post-commissioning issues. Support the operations team in maintaining the system and troubleshooting during the initial phase of operation.

Qualifications

:

Education

: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a Diploma in electrical engineering.

Experience

: Minimum of 1 years of experience in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in power plants and substations (both LT and HT voltage levels).

Certifications

: Relevant certifications in electrical systems, testing, and commissioning (e.g., Certified Electrical Testing Professional or equivalent) would be an advantage.

Skills

:

In-depth knowledge of electrical testing equipment and methodologies. Experience with electrical protection systems, relays, and control circuits. Proficient in the use of testing instruments such as multimeters, insulation resistance testers, high-voltage test equipment, and others. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with international standards and regulations for electrical testing (e.g., IEC, ANSI, IEEE).
