Role Overview





We are looking for a Test Architect / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to define and drive the test strategy for Android OS Upgrades on Motorola devices. This is not a test execution role - the individual will lead test strategy, guide the team technically, and ensure end-to-end validation quality across multiple domains. The role requires a deep understanding of Android, strong technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to quickly learn and master new domains.





Key Responsibilities





Define and review test strategies, plans, and quality metrics for Android OS upgrades.




Act as a technical SME across domains - Kernel/BSP, Multimedia, Modem, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, Sensors, Location, Android & Motorola SW Experiences.




Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the testing team.




Review and improve test coverage, automation strategy, and defect analysis processes.




Perform deep log analysis and debugging (kernel, system, crash).




Collaborate with global teams across development, QA, and program management.




Drive continuous improvement and innovation in testing methodology and automation.




Required Skills & Qualifications





B.E./B.Tech/M.E. in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.




10+ years in software/system testing, with 3+ years as Test Architect or SME.




Strong knowledge of Android platform and OS upgrade process.




Hands-on expertise in test automation and scripting (Python, ADB, Robot Framework).




Familiar with performance, stability, regression, and system integration testing.




Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Gerrit, GitHub Actions).




Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.




Proven ability to learn new domains quickly and provide technical direction.




Preferred





Experience with Motorola or other Android OEMs.




Familiarity with AOSP, GMS certification, and OTA testing.




Exposure to connectivity and multimedia subsystems.
