: JOB DESCRIPTION I. JOB DETAILS Reporting Supervisor HOD Laboratory II. JOB PURPOSE
To test samples received for pathology examination and report results accurately so the clinician can make the right assessment/ diagnosis for effective patient care.
III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Core Responsibilities - Responsibilities and Key Tasks
o To effectively interface with patients, attendants, nursing staff and service users.
o To ensure reliable and timely reports.
o To demonstrate effective application of technical & professional knowledge.
o To ensure error free routine tests and examinations and record the results in department registers.
o To carry out regular calibration of laboratory equipment and regular maintenance.
o To strictly follow and implement the laboratory SOPs and Quality assurance programs.
o To attend emergencies during and after working hours.
o To participate in training & quality initiatives; to assist in training of new employees.
o To implement infection control policy & proper waste disposal.
o To adhere to company policies & practices on discipline & decorum.
IV. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Measurable Deliverables
I.Patient/ Customer Care
Accuracy in results & reports-No Cases of inaccurate reporting.
II.Process/ Documentation.
Knowledgeable about various Q.A programs in laboratory and is able to effectively implement them.
Optimal utilization of equipment and material resources.
Non conformance of SOPS
III.Revenues/ Costs
Minimise Downtime of all equipments in the Lab
IV.People
Training persons days completed
V. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualifications
Graduation
Diploma or more in Medical Lab technology
Experience
Preferably with 0-2 years experience as a fully qualified Pathology Lab Technician.
2 years experience in a high volume laboratory.
Technical Skills
Substantial exposure in automation.
Well versed in specialties of clinical pathology.
Computer knowledge
Familiarity with regulations and sample processing.
Behavioural Skills
High level of communication and coordination.
The role required to do shift duties including night shifts and emergency duties on call as per monthly planned roaster
